Zoom Teeth Whitening
There are many reasons your smile might not be as white and bright as it could be.
Your lifestyle choices might be the cause if you are a smoker or a regular coffee or tea drinker. Plus, as we age, the enamel on our teeth tends to get thinner, making our teeth appear more yellow. You can do something about this, and in just an hour or so at the dentist office, your teeth can be many shades whiter than you would have thought possible.
At Lake Erie Dental, Dr. Kevin Sambuchino uses the Zoom Teeth Whitening System to make smiles dramatically brighter. Call us today to find out how you can have your teeth whitened safely and effectively.
How Professional Teeth Whitening Works
The Zoom Teeth Whitening System uses a strong hydrogen peroxide gel to break up even the most stubborn stains on teeth. The gel works along with a special light, which accelerates the bleaching process. The hydrogen peroxide breaks down during the process, allowing oxygen to bleach stained portions of the enamel and dentin. Your tooth structure doesn’t change, but stains are a thing of the past.
The Professional Teeth Whitening Process Is Quick
In the time it might take for your lunch break, you can have a beautiful white smile. Plan on being at our office for about an hour. Preparation of your teeth will take just a few minutes. The bleaching process takes about 15 minutes, but this is usually repeated several times for a total of 45 minutes. While you wait for the process to work, you can relax and use our headphones to watch TV or listen to music.
We usually recommend that patients have their teeth cleaned before undergoing the whitening procedure.
There is no pain associated with the whitening procedure, although patients with a strong gag reflex might find parts of it to be uncomfortable. Let us know ahead of time if you suspect this will be an issue for you.
The Safety of Professional Teeth Whitening
As with all elective dental treatments, you might have concerns about safety. Rest assured that the Zoom Teeth Whitening System is perfectly safe. Unlike some of the issues that occur with over-the-counter whitening kits, which can often lead to tooth and gum sensitivity (usually because they are not used correctly), you will have none of these concerns with professional teeth whitening under the care of your dentist.
Taking Care of Teeth after the Procedure
Once you see how beautiful and bright your smile is, you will want to ensure those results last as long as possible. One way to do this is to stop those habits that might have impacted the color of your teeth in the first place. Avoid staining foods and beverages and be sure to rinse your mouth afterward if you do enjoy them occasionally.
In addition, we will give you an at-home Zoom touch-up kit that includes custom trays. Dr. Sambuchino will provide you with instructions on how to use these to keep your smile white for many months to come.
